Four Seasons
The past week was a perfect example of the love/hate relationship I have with my writing. I started working on chapter seven, got about 1500 words into it and went back to re-read chapters 5-6 to make sure the flow was right. Turns out that chapters 5 and 6 (which I had convinced myself were good), really weren’t very good. In fact, they stunk, so I spent the next three days getting rid of the smell.
And here we are, a little more than three months into the project with a scant 15,178 words written. The Work-In-Progress (up to and including the revised chapters and part of a new one) is available for download at: https://dl.bookfunnel.com/wzmr3s51iz
On a slightly more positive note, I changed the cover to something I’m much happier with given the book will be four loosely linked novellas titled (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer)
Lastly, I am thinking about carving out time to start working on The Girl From the Past (TGFTP) again. I originally envisioned TGFTP as a series of three books, but my enthusiasm for it petered out part-way through the second book. Thus far, I haven’t figured out if this lack of enthusiasm is with the story or with my writing.
For those of you who haven’t read it and enjoy YA science fiction, I’ll post a download link in next week’s newsletter. If after you read the book, you have an opinion (good, bad or indifferent), I’m interested in hearing it.
Until next week….stay safe.
Cheers,
Mark
